Actor Ranbir Kapoor has been trending on social media over the last few days and it’s not for the right reasons. Recently, during an Instagram Live session, he had joked about wife Alia Bhatt’s weight gain during pregnancy. Now, Ranbir has apologised for his ‘bad sense of humour’ during the promotions of his forthcoming film ‘Brahmastra’ in Chennai.
The actor said that he loves his wife and his remark was a joke that didn't turn out to be funny. He added that his ‘sense of humour falls flat on his face sometimes’ and apologised to those who got offended by it.
'I think it's a joke that didn't turn out to be funny. I really want to apologise if I have triggered anyone. It was not my intention. So, I want to say sorry to people who got offended or triggered. I spoke to Alia about it and she really laughed it off and she didn't mind it. But I do have a bad sense of humour and sometimes it falls flat on my own face. So, I am sorry if I have hurt anyone about it,' Ranbir said.

For the unversed, here’s a little background of what happened during an Instagram Live session last week. Speaking of 'Brahmastra' promotions, Alia Bhatt said that they will promote the film, and will be everywhere. When she tried to explain why they are not phailoed (as in spread) everywhere at the moment. Her sentence was interrupted by Ranbir, who, pointing at Alia's baby bump said, ‘Well I can say somebody has phailoed.’ He was quick to add that it was a ‘joke’, but he faced major backlash on social media. Many users said that his comment was insensitive.
Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt, who tied the knot in April this year, will be welcoming their first child soon. The actors will be seen sharing screen space for the first time in Ayan Mukerji's 'Brahmastra', which releases in theatres on September 9.
