Soon-to-be parents, Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor are busy promoting their forthcoming film, 'Brahmastra'. Recently, the couple along with director Ayan Mukerji were promoting their film through live interaction sessions on social media. They were asked why they aren’t promoting the film in a grand way as they did for other films.

To this, Alia said, ‘We will promote the film, and we will be everywhere but if the question you are asking is why we are not phailod (a reference to widespread promotion) everywhere, right now our focus is...’
She was interrupted by her husband Ranbir Kapoor who then pointed towards her baby bump and jokingly said, ‘well I can say somebody has phailod (talking about her weight gain)’. He also added that he was just joking.

However, the comment of the ‘Sanju’ actor left the netizens furious and they slammed him for ‘fat shaming’ his pregnant wife.

One user commented, ‘don’t ever make jokes like that to a pregnant woman’.

Another wrote, ‘Not funny. Alia, you will realise soon that RK was a wrong choice. He just bodyshamed you. God bless you, your relationship and your child’

‘Brahmastra’, which is Alia and Ranbir’s first film together, is all set to release on September 9. It also stars actors like Amitabh Bachchan, Nagarjuna, and Mouni Roy in pivotal roles.
