Nude photoshoot row: Ranveer Singh records his statement at Mumbai's Chembur police station

Mumbai Police has recorded Ranveer Singh’s statement in the nude photoshoot case, as per news agency ANI. The actor reportedly reached the Chembur Police Station around 7am on Monday morning and left after two hours. If need be, Ranveer will be summoned again by the investigating officer, the police said.

Ranveer has been booked for obscenity under Sections 292, 294 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and 509 and 67(A) of the Information Technology (IT) Act. An FIR was registered against the actor at Chembur police station last month on the basis of a complaint filed by an office-bearer of a non-governmental organisation (NGO). The complainant sought action against the ‘Padmavaat’ actor for hurting sentiments and insulting modesty of women.

 Pictures from the Ranveer Singh’s PAPER magazine shoot had gone viral on the internet in July. He was trolled by a section of netizens for his bold move and social media was flooded with comments, and memes.

On the work front, Ranveer will next be seen in Karan Johar’s ‘Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani’, co-starring Alia Bhatt. He also has Rohit Shetty’s ‘Cirkus’ in the pipeline.
