Ratan Naval Tata, the industrial giant who turned the once-staid Tata Group into India’s biggest powerhouse with a series of bold moves, passed away at 86 on October 9.
While world leaders and business moguls paid their tributes, Indian cinema stalwarts also took a moment to remember the man who reshaped India’s corporate landscape.
Salman Khan, Priyanka Chopra, and Anushka Sharma paid their respects to the industry giant Ratan Tata on social media.
Salman also expressed his sorrow, writing, ‘Deeply saddened by the passing of Mr. Ratan Tata.’
Priyanka tweeted, ‘Through your kindness, you touched the lives of millions. Your legacy of leadership and generosity will continue to inspire generations. Thank you for your unmatched passion and dedication for everything you did for our country. You have been an inspiration to us all and will be greatly missed, Sir.’
Anushka Sharma took to her Instagram Stories to share a picture of the late Ratan Tata and wrote, ‘Deeply saddened by the tragic news of Shri Ratan Tata. He upheld the values of integrity, grace & dignity through everything he did & was truly an icon & Taj of India. RIP Sir, You have touched so many lives.’
Ajay Devgn shared a heartfelt tribute on X, saying, ‘The world mourns the loss of a visionary. Ratan Tata's legacy will inspire generations. His contributions to India and beyond are immeasurable. We are deeply grateful. Rest in peace, Sir.’
SS Rajamouli and Jr NTR have also used social media to express their grief.
Taking to X, previously known as Twitter, SS Rajamouli wrote, ‘Legends are born, and they live forever. It’s hard to imagine a day without using a TATA product… Ratan Tata’s legacy is woven into everyday life. If anyone will stand the test of time alongside the Panchabhootas, it’s him.’
He added, ‘Thank you Sir for everything you’ve done for India and for impacting countless lives. You’ve left a mark that will last for generations. Salute to you… Always your admirer… Jai Hind.’
Jr NTR also took to the microblogging site and wrote, ‘A titan of industry, a heart of gold! Ratan Tata Ji’s selfless philanthropy and visionary leadership have transformed countless lives. India owes him a debt of gratitude. May he rest in peace.’

About Ratan Tata’s death
Ratan Tata, who led the salt-to-software conglomerate as chairman for over two decades, passed away at 11:30 p.m. on October 9 at Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital. The Padma Vibhushan awardee had been in intensive care since October 7. Despite reports of his hospitalization, Tata, known for his philanthropy and leadership, reassured the public earlier that there was no cause for alarm regarding his health, explaining that he was undergoing routine check-ups for age-related medical issues.
