Remake of 'Omkara' and 'Desi Boyz' sequel in the works, confirms producer Anand Pandit

Producer and film distributor Anand Pandit has joined hands with Eros International and producer Parag Sanghvi to produce two movies, a remake of 2006 film 'Omkara' and 'Desi Boyz's sequel.

He confirmed the news on his social media handles by sharing a newspaper article about the same and wrote 'Super thrilled to announce the remake of 'Omkara' & sequel of 'Desi Boyz'! Keep yourselves hooked to witness the crazy entertainment! '

In a statement, Anand Pandit talked about working on the two iconic films and said, ‘Omkara and Desi Boyz were trailblazers in their respective eras for their storytelling, star cast, and music. They still remain unforgettable for their command over their respective genres.’

He added that the films have a cult following for different reasons and it seemed like the perfect time to revisit these hits and take their stories forward for a new generation of viewers.

'Omkara', directed by Vishal Bhardwaj was released in 2006. The film starred Ajay Devgn, Kareena Kapoor, Saif Ali Khan, Konkona Sen Sharma, Vivek Oberoi in pivotal roles. The film was an adaptation of William Shakespeare's 'Othello'.

Meanwhile, 'Desi Boyz' was released in 2011. Directed by Rohit Dhawan, the film starred Akshay Kumar, John Abraham, Deepika Padukone and Chitrangda Singh in the lead roles.
