The last rites of renowned singer Krishnakumar Kunnath, fondly known as KK, were held at Versova Hindu Cemetery in Mumbai. His son Nakul performed the rituals.
Lyricist Javed Akhtar and singer Shankar Mahadevan were among those present at the crematorium.
Earlier, Hariharan, Salim Merchant, and other colleagues of KK from the music and film industry paid tribute to him at his residence in Andheri.
Krishnakumar Kunnath, 53, died shortly after performing at a concert in Kolkata on May 31. On Wednesday, the West Bengal government gave a gun salute to the singer at Rabindra Sadan. The proceedings were supervised by chief minister Mamata Banerjee herself.
According to news reports, his initial post-mortem report claims that the singer died of a cardiac arrest. A senior official told news agency PTI that KK had been suffering from 'prolonged cardiac issues.'
