‘Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani’: Tota Roy Choudhury shares video of Kolkata theatre rejoicing

Actor Tota Roy Choudhury, who plays the role of Alia Bhatt’s father in ‘Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani’, took to social media to share a video from cinema halls in Kolkata.

In the clip, the audience can be heard cheering as Ranveer and Tota start dancing to ‘Dola Re Dola’. The actor shared the video, tagging Karan and Ranveer, and wrote, ‘And the houseful audience breaks into spontaneous applause. Kolkata this evening.’

Karan reshared the video and called Tota ‘a star’, adding heart emojis. The actor replied to the filmmaker’s post and wrote, ‘Only because of you Karan sir. Forever grateful to you for your faith in me.’

The ‘Dola Re Dola’ sequence comes before the film’s original track ‘Dhindora Baje Re’ and the scene has been widely appreciated.

Tota Roy Choudhury has previously featured in Hindi projects like ‘Kahaani 2’, ‘Helicopter Eela’, ‘The Girl on the Train’, and ‘Ajeeb Daastaans; among others.

Besides Ranveer and Alia, the Karan Johar directorial also stars Shabana Azmi, Jaya Bachchan and Dharmendra.

‘Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani’ released in theatres on July 28 and it has done well over the weekend, collecting Rs 46 cr.

The romantic comedy-drama marked Karan Johar’s first film in seven years, after his Diwali release, ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’.
