Roger Federer announces retirement from professional tennis : Roger Federer, 20-time Grand Slam winner, announced that he will retire from professional tennis after the Laver Cup in London. The renowned tennis player posted a long note on social media Thursday to make the announcement.

Soon after the news broke, social media was flooded with congratulatory messages praising Federer’s contribution to the sport. Bollywood celebrities also reacted to his retirement announcement.

Anushka Sharma took to Instagram and reposted Federer’s video, captioned, ‘Genius.’ Director Shashank Khaitan penned a special note for the tennis star and wrote, ‘Roger Federer … The man who has inspired me beyond Tennis… The greatest Player, Role Model and Hero any young kid can have… Watching Tennis will never be the same… Thank you for so many memories and moments …. Thank you for the grace and the joy. An absolute Living Legend. Feel blessed to have witnessed your greatness live. Will always regret not watching you play at Wimbledon.’

Kareena Kapoor Khan too shared the news and wrote, ‘Legend’.

Dia Mirza, Pooja Hegde were among others who penned a heartfelt note for Roger Federer.
