SS Rajamouli's 'RRR', which re-released in the US as part of the ongoing Beyond Fest, is still doing wonders at the box office. The Ram Charan-Jr. NTR starrer had a single showing at the TCL Chinese Theatre in Los Angeles, where it earned $21,000, approximately ₹17 lakh. According to Deadline, the 932 seats in the theatre were sold out in 20 minutes.
After the screening, the audience cheered inside the theatre and filmmaker SS Rajamouli received a standing ovation. A video clip from the screening has been shared by Rajamouli on Twitter. He tweeted, 'Your adoration and applause towards my heroes, my film and me were enormous. Thank you USA.'
'RRR' has impressed the audience not only in India but also in the West, and it has grossed over ₹1000 crore worldwide during its theatrical run.
'RRR', set in the 1920s, is based on the lives of two well-known revolutionaries – Alluri Sitarama Raju and Komaram Bheem. The film, which has been made on a budget of around ₹300 crore, emerged as one of the highest-grossing Indian films ever. It also stars Alia Bhatt and Ajay Devgn in pivotal roles.
'RRR' was relesed in theatres on March 25.
