Actor Shah Rukh Khan penned a heartfelt message for Team India after witnessing their celebratory parade in Mumbai following their World Cup victory. The Indian cricket team clinched the T20 World Cup final against South Africa on June 29 in Barbados.
Shah Rukh wrote in his tweet, ‘Seeing the boys so happy and emotional fills my heart with pride…. As Indians this is such an amazing moment - to see our boys take us to such great heights!!! Love u all my Team India… and now dance away all night long. Boys in Blue take away all the blues! Big Congratulations to the @BCCI, @JayShah and the entire support staff that has worked tirelessly behind the scenes so that our boys could soar!!’
Team India returned to the country on July 4 after being stuck in Barbados due to Hurricane Beryl. Upon their return, they met Prime Minister Narendra Modi at his residence in New Delhi, reunited with their families, and then flew to Mumbai for a special parade along Marine Drive and a celebration at Wankhede Stadium.
Captain Rohit Sharma and star batter Virat Kohli proudly lifted the T20 World Cup 2024 trophy, displaying it to the sea of fans gathered along the parade route.
Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Jay Shah and vice president Rajiv Shukla accompanied the players on the bus to commemorate the occasion.
During the celebrations, players draped themselves in the Tricolour. Virat Kohli, Kuldeep Yadav, and Yuzvendra Chahal were among those who wore the national flag during the Vijay Rath journey.
A few enthusiastic fans even climbed trees to get a better view of the players, who held the trophy and waved to the crowd.
Captain Rohit Sharma held hands with head coach Rahul Dravid and batter Suryakumar Yadav, raising them towards the sky in a gesture of triumph. The team then proceeded to Wankhede Stadium.
In addition to being one of the biggest actors in the world, Shah Rukh Khan is also the owner of the IPL team Kolkata Knight Riders.
