The buzz is that Sonakshi Sinha is all set to tie the knot with boyfriend Zaheer Iqbal on June 23. And it seems like it’s not just the fans and media, that’s waiting for an official confirmation from the couple. Sonakshi’s father when asked about his daughter’s reported wedding, feigned ignorance and said that he’s not aware if it’s happening.
A Times Now report claimed that the wedding will take place on June 23 in Mumbai. Breaking his silence on the viral reports, Shatrughan Sinha claimed that she has not told him about it. He said, “I am in Delhi right now. After the election results, I flew down here. I haven't spoken to anyone about my daughter's plans. So your question is, is she getting married? The answer is that she hasn't told me anything about it. Main bhi utna hi jaanta ho jitna main media maine padha hai (I know as much about this as what the media has told me). If and when she takes me into confidence, my wife and I will give the couple my blessings. We wish her happiness always."
Being the supportive father that he is, the actor-politician said that his daughter has right to make her decision and expressed his support. "We trust her judgement completely. She would never make an extra-constituional or illegal decision. As a consenting adult, she has the right to make her own decisions," he said.
Despite denying any knowledge about the wedding, Sinha expressed desire to dance. He said, “I would like to say that whenever my daughter gets married, I would like to be dancing right in front of the baaraat."
The veteran actor-politician emphasised that he does not have any information about the wedding. “I am being asked by people close to me why I am not aware of this and the media is aware of it. All I can say is, aaj kal ke bachche consent nahin lete maap-baap ke, sirf inform karte hain (these days, children don't seek permission from parents, they just inform). We are waiting to be informed," he said.
While Sonakshi’s father has not spilled the beans, reports suggest that the wedding invitations are already out. An India Today report claimed that the entire cast of ‘Heeramandi’ has also been invited.
