Actor Shraddha Kapoor has achieved a milestone on social media by surpassing Prime Minister Narendra Modi in number of followers on Instagram. Shraddha now holds 91.4 million followers, while PM Modi has 91.3 million.
This number makes Kapoor the third most followed Indian on Instagram, trailing Virat Kohli and Priyanka Chopra.
Virat Kohli leads with a staggering 271 million followers, followed by Priyanka with 91.8 million. He leads as the most-followed person in India and holds the tag of the most-followed cricketer globally.
Other Indian celebrities on Instagram include Alia Bhatt, with 85.1 million followers, and Deepika Padukone, who has 79.8 million followers. The surge in Shraddha's social media followers was seen after 'Stree 2's release.
With the overwhelming response 'Stree 2' is receiving in theaters, Shraddha Kapoor could soon catch up to or even surpass Priyanka Chopra to become the second most-followed Indian celebrity on Instagram.
While Shraddha Kapoor has taken the lead on Instagram, PM Modi continues to dominate on X, where he still is the most followed global leader with over 101.2 million followers. He is ahead of other world leaders such as US President Joe Biden, Dubai’s Sheikh Mohammed, and Pope Francis.
The official X account of the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) also holds around 56 million followers. Among Indian politicians, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has 26.7 million followers, and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has 27.6 million followers on X.
Shraddha Kapoor’s latest release, 'Stree 2,' is making waves at the box office. The horror-comedy sequel is approaching the ₹300 crore mark in global collections. The movie is expected to gross 500 Crores easily.
Directed by Amar Kaushik, the film also includes a special cameo by Varun Dhawan. Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao celebrated the success of 'Stree 2' at a grand party recently.
