Shreya Ghoshal, one of Bollywood's most melodious and talented singers, made her singing debut in Bollywood with Sanjay Leela Bhansali's blockbuster 'Devdas' starring Shah Rukh Khan, Aishwarya Rai and Madhuri Dixit. Ever since then, there has been no looking back for the singer. From being the voice of Paro in 'Devdas' to her latest hits like ‘Chaka Chak’, ‘Param Sundari,’ and many others, Shreya has definitely won millions of hearts with her mellifluous voice.

Shreya began learning music ever since she was four years old. Her mom was her guru at that time. Shreya gave her first onstage performance at a club's annual function. Her journey to becoming a singer par excellence began from there. When she was 6 years old, Shreya started her formal training in classical music and acquired training from Padmashree (late) Kalyanji Bhai and (late) Mukta Bhideji.
Shreya finished her schooling at Atomic Energy Central School in Rawatbhata. Post that, she moved to Mumbai because of her dad's job transfer. Here, she finished her graduation in Arts, even though she had initially enrolled for Science.
Filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali was the one who signed Shreya for her debut playback song. However, it's worth noting that her singing talent was discovered by ace director's mother Leela.
Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s mother Leela had seen Shreya’s vocal talent at the 75th Special Children Episode of ‘TVS Sa Re Ga Ma’. She then called up Sanjay and strongly recommended her to be considered for the voice of Paro in 'Devdas'. The rest, as they say, is history.
Shreya is well-known throughout the world for her remarkable achievements in the field of singing. She was even awarded with the highest honor in London by the selected members of Parliament at the House of Commons. Mr. Ted Strickland, the Governor of the United States of Ohio, later announced June 26 to be 'Shreya Ghoshal Day'.
Shreya has been the recipient of the prestigious National Award four times. Besides this, she has also bagged several other awards like Filmfare Awards, Mirchi Awards and Screen Awards, to name a few.
Besides Hindi, Shreya has recorded in a whopping 12 different Indian languages. They include Bengali, Gujarati, Assamese, Nepali, Marathi, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam and others.
Shreya Ghoshal married her long-time boyfriend Shiladitya Mukhopadhyaya in 2015. The couple welcomed their little baby boy in May 2021.
