Singer Daler Mehndi has been granted bail in 2003 human trafficking case by the Punjab and Haryana High Court on Thursday. Patiala Court had sentenced him to two years of imprisonment on July 14 this year, declaring him guilty of illegally sending people abroad by disguising them as his troupe members.
A total of 31 cases have been filed against the singer and his brother Shamsher Singh. They were booked by the Patiala Police on a complaint filed by a person named Bakshish Singh. The complainant alleged that the brothers had taken 'passage money' to help them migrate to the US illegally.
Patiala court had sentenced the singer to two years in jail on March 16, 2018, but he was later released on bail.
A Patiala court upheld the 2018 verdict on July 14 this year and ordered the immediate arrest of Daler Mehndi.
