Krishnakumar Kunnath aka KK
Died on: May 31
Born in New Delhi, the singer, fondly known as KK, got his breakthrough in the 90s after the release of his debut album 'Pal.' He got his career boost with the soulful song 'Tadap Tadap' from Sanjay Leela Bhansali's 'Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam.'
Some of his other memorable numbers include 'Khuda Jaane' (from the film 'Bachna Ae Haseeno'), 'Tu Hi Meri Shab Hai' (from the film 'Gangster: A Love Story'), and 'Tu Ashiqui Hai' (from the film 'Jhankaar Beats')
In a career spanning over three decades, KK lent his voice to more than 3500 jingles in 11 different languages. He is also known for hit pop songs like 'Yaaron' and 'Din Ho Ya Raat.'
KK passed away after performing at a concert in Kolkata's Nazrul Mancha on May 31.
Lata Mangeshkar

Often referred to as the 'Nightingale of India,' Lata ji was one of the most inpirational singers of the nation. From Madhubala to Madhuri Dixit, she has been the voice for many Bollywood leading ladies in her illustrious career spanning seven decades.
Mangeshkar was conferred with all of India's top civilian honours - Padma Bhushan (1969), Padma Vibhushan (1999) and Bharat Ratna (2001).
She died on February 6, 2022, leaving behind her work's unparalleled and incomparable legacy.
Sidhu Moose Wala
Died on: May 29
Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu, who was popularly known by his stage name Sidhu Moose Wala, was killed on May 29 in Mansa district of Punjab.
Having a staggering 9.1 million followers on Instagram, this singer had many hit tracks to his credits including 'Goat', 'Issa Jatt', 'Dhakka', 'Bambiha Bole' and others.

Alokesh Lahiri aka Bappi Lahiri
Died on: February 15
Besides being a singer, Bappi Lahiri was also a known musician, composer and politician. He can be rightfully credited for popularizing the use of synthesized disco music in Indian cinema.
Born in a family of musicians, Lahiri started his career with the Bengali film 'Daadu', where the late Lata Mangeshkar sang his first composition.
A few of his hit songs include 'Tamma Tamma Loge' (from the film 'Thanedaar'), 'Yaar Bina Chain Kaha Re' (from the film 'Saaheb'), 'Jimmy Jimmy Ajaa Ajaa' (from the film 'Disco Dancer') and 'I Am A Disco Dancer' (from the film 'Disco Dancer')
Bappi Lahiri passed away reportedly due to Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) on February 15, 2022.
Tarsame Singh Saini (Taz/ Johnny Zee)

Tarsame Singh Saini, popularly known as Taz, the lead singer from pop band Stereo Nation, was a musical sensation in the 90s.
He became a household name with his hit 1989 album 'Hit The Deck'. Post that, he went onto churn many superhit tracks. Besides pop songs like 'Nachenge Saari Raat', 'Carol', Taz had also sung for a few Bollywood films including 'Tum Bin', 'Koi Mill Gaya' and 'Batla House'.
The singer passed away because of a reported liver failure on April 29, 2022.

Sandhya Mukhopadhyay
Died on: February 15
Born in Kolkata in 1931, Sandhya Mukhopadhyay was known for modern and semi-classical music in Bengali. Her duets with the legendary singer Hemanta Mukherjee (Hemant Kumar) are treasured by her fans across the globe.
Some of her Bollywood songs include, 'Aa Gupchup Gupchup Pyar Karen', 'Mai To Prem Diwani', 'Ram Japu Ram Japu', 'Yeh Baat Koi Samjhaye Re', to name a few.
She was nicknamed as 'Geetashree' for her contribution to the world of music. The veteran singer made headlines when she refused to accept the Padma Shri award on January 24 this year.
Sandhya Mukhopadhyay died on February 15, 2022.
