Manoj Bajpayee starrer ‘Sirf Ek Bandaa Kaafi Hai’ which was released on the OTT platform Zee5 on May 13 is being widely appreciated, and it is likely that the movie might get a theatrical release. According to Hindustan Times, a source close to the film has said that the streaming platform is discussing the future path for the film along with a studio.
‘It will be the first time that a film will be released in the theatre after its OTT premiere, which is why there is a lot of planning going on. If everything falls in the right place, it will change the way people look at content for the web space, and even stop looking at the medium as a threat, another source added.
Director Apoorv Singh Karki has expressed his excitement about the ongoing discussion.
‘With the film now opening in the theatres, it will take the message to a wider audience, which is the most important thing for a director. Jahan jahan film nahi ja paayi hai, woh wahan jayegi,’ he told Hindustan Times.
‘It will change the way we perceive OTT content and content made for theatres, and not look at it as a threat. It shows that both are important mediums for storytelling,’ he added.
Karki concluded by saying that he will be ‘super happy’ if the film goes to the big screen now.
‘Kamal ka feeling hoga. Moreover, it will be an important thing for the film to take the message to a wider audience. And it will reach more people and will find new audiences in interior areas with theatre release,’ he said.
