Rajkumar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor are teaming up once again for the sequel of horror comedy ‘Stree’. Days after the online leak, makers have dropped the teaser of ‘Stree 2’, raising the anticipation as well as reconfirming the release date.
Maddock Films and Rajkumar Rao shared the intriguing teaser of the film on their social media handles. “Iss baar Chanderi mein azaadi ke din hoga aatank! (This time there will be terror on Independence Day in Chanderi! The legend returns this INDEPENDENCE DAY, 15th August 2024!” read the caption.
The teaser begins with a statue of ‘Stree’ and some people pouring milk over it. Horror begins for the residence of Chanderi as Rajkumar Rao’s character is heard saying, ‘ye to sach mein aa gaye’. Shraddha Kapoor gives spooky vibes. We also get glimpses of Pankaj Tripathi, Tamannaah Bhatia, Aparshakti Khurana and Abhishek Banerjee. Towards the end, Rao’s character apologises to ‘Stree’ for chopping off her braid in the last time.
Besides dropping the teaser, makes also re-confirmed the release date of film. ‘Stree 2’ will hit the theatres on Independence Day. The film was initially scheduled to be released on August 30 2024, however, the makers have preponed it to Independence Day.
With this, ‘Stree 2’ has become third film to recently confirm the Independence Day release date. Recently, Akshay Kumar’s ‘Khel Khel Mein’ and John Abraham’s ‘Vedaa’ also announced August 15 as their release date. Allu Arjun starrer ‘Pushpa 2’ was also scheduled to be released on Independence Day; however, reports suggest that there might be a delay in the release.
A sequel to ‘Stree’, released in 2018, ‘Stree 2’ is the fifth film in Maddock Supernatural Universe. Besides Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor, the film also stars Pankaj Tripathi, Abhishek Banerjee and Aparshakti Khurana. Directed by Amar Kaushik, ‘Stree 2’ is produced by Dinesh Vijan and Jyoti Deshpande. The film is a part of Maddock Film’s horror-comedy universe which includes ‘Stree’, ‘Roohi, ‘Bhediya’ and ‘Munjya’.
