Taapsee Pannu, in a recent interview, shared that she was offered films in Bollywood due to her resemblance to Preity Zinta. Taapsee, who appeared as a guest on cricketer Shikhar Dhawan's debut talk show ‘Dhawan Karenge with Shikhar Dhawan’, disclosed how, since then, she has tried to live up to Preity’s reputation.
Taapsee mentioned receiving offers for Telugu and Tamil films while studying engineering, and eventually transitioning to Bollywood.
She said, ‘Many thought that I was a new version of Preity Zinta. That was the reason I got offers in Bollywood… She has a very positive energy, and you know it better than me because you must have had interacted with her more. I have only seen her on TV or the big screen.’
Taapsee added, ‘I think the category of Preity Zinta is someone who can be lively and be with brains. I felt like I had to live up to that reputation for which they brought me into the industry because of her name. So, I always put in some effort to be like her.’
Taapsee's professional journey
Tapsee made her acting debut in the 2010 Telugu film ‘Jhummandi Naadam’ and subsequently ventured into Bollywood with ‘Chashme Baddoor’. She gained recognition for her work in films like ‘Pink’, ‘Manmarziyan’, ‘Judwaa 2’, ‘Saand Ki Aankh’, ‘Mission Mangal’, and ‘Thappad’.
Recently, Taapsee appeared in Rajkumar Hirani's ‘Dunki’ alongside Shah Rukh Khan. She is known for her versatility and impactful roles in Indian cinema.
Her upcoming projects include ‘Woh Ladki Hai Kahaan?’, 'Phir Aayi Haseen Dillruba' and 'Khel Khel Mein.'
'Khel Khel Mein', directed by Mudassar Aziz, boasts an incredible star cast including Akshay Kumar, Vaani Kapoor, Ammy Virk, Aditya Seal, Pragya Jaiswal, and Fardeen Khan in key roles.
On the personal front, Taapsee recently tied the knot with her longtime boyfriend, Mathias Boe, in a private ceremony in Udaipur in March this year.
