Guneet Monga and Kartiki Gonsalves, the makers of 'The Elephant Whisperers', met President Draupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhawan in New Delhi. Prior to this, the duo had met Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The President praised Guneet and Kartiki for promoting the Indian 'tradition of conservation and living in harmony with nature' with their film. The documentary won the Oscar for the best Documentary Short last month.
The official Twitter account of the President's office tweeted pictures of the meeting and wrote, 'President Droupadi Murmu met the filmmakers of the Oscar-winning documentary The Elephant Whisperers, Kartiki Gonsalves and Guneet Monga. She praised them for showcasing India's tradition of conservation and coexisting with nature in addition to congratulating them on winning the award.'
Previously, Guneet co-produced the 2019 Oscar-winning documentary 'Period End of Sentence'. The first Indian production to take home the award in this category is 'The Elephant Whisperers'.
