Director Sudipto Sen’s controversial film 'The Kerala Story', which was released in theatres on Friday, has shown an enormous growth compared to its first day. The film saw a growth of almost 40 percent as it minted Rs 11.22 crore on Saturday. This brings the total to Rs 19.25 crore.
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted, '#TheKeralaStory is SENSATIONAL, sets the #BO on on Day 2… Shows BIGGG GAINS across all circuits… Hits double digits, a REMARKABLE ACHIEVEMENT for a film that’s *not* riding on stardom, but word of mouth… Fri 8.03 cr, Sat 11.22 cr. Total: ₹ 19.25 cr. #India biz. #Boxoffice Growth / Decline… Sat: [growth] 39.73%.'
The Adah Sharma starrer was criticised for alleged factual inaccuracies and even received poor reviews by critics, but the numbers definitely have a different tale to tell.
'The Kerala Story' is the second big hit of 2023 after Shah Rukh Khan starrer 'Pathaan'.
