Vikrant Massey starrer ‘The Sabarmati Report’ is on track but it surely hasn’t been an easy ride for the team and cast of the film. The makers have touched on the sensitive and political topic of Godhra train burning incident in the film.
Film’s lead star Vikrant Massey revealed that he has received death threats due to his role in the film but emphasised that as an artist his job is to tell stories. However, this isn’t the first time that an actor is facing something like death threats for their work.
- Aamir Khan reportedly received multiple death threats after the release of his TV show ‘Satyamev Jayate’. Mr Perfectionist didn’t take them lightly and bought a brand-new bullet-proof car- a Mercedes Benz 600 to tighten his security.
- Deepika Padukone faced heavy backlash and protests from Karni Sena during the release of her film ‘Padmaavat’, intially titled ‘Padmavati’. The fringe group put a bounty on Deepika, threatened with beheading and chopping her nose. The filmmakers were forced to change the title and make a few more changes in the film following the protests.
- Shah Rukh Khan faced threats over the song ‘Besharam Rang’ from ‘Pathaan’ in 2023. Following the controversy, SRK’s security was levelled up to Y+ catergory. The Bollywood star earlier received threats during the release of his film ‘My Name Is Khan’ over his comments on the exclusion of Pakistani cricketers from IPL that year.
- Anupam Kher’s film ‘The Kashmir Files’ courted huge controversy in the political circles for the film’s sensitive nature. The actor received multiple threats after which he was provided with X plus security.
- Mallika Sherawat, known for her bold roles in films, reportedly received death threats for the film ‘Dirty Politics’. The film’s storyline was inspired from Bhanwari Devi case, where a Rajasthan based woman was killed in 2011 and the accused involved influential names including politicians.
