Elon Musk’s micro-blogging site Twitter, known for its verification badge which distinguished businesses, government officials, and celebrities from others, has now removed the coveted symbol from the accounts of many prominent personalities. Several stars are now reacting to losing the blue tick on the platform as per a new mandate launched by the micro-blogging site. Twitter users with verified blue checkmarks are the ones paying a monthly subscription of ₹650-700.

Comedian-actor Vir Das reacted to his blue tick verification disappearing from Twitter and said he is okay with anyone impersonating him on the social media platform. He added that people should take it to be an impersonator's account if they feel offended by his tweets and should believe it to be his account if they like the posts.

Nargis Fakhri also tweeted about it and wrote, ‘I never really come on here. i just noticed I’m no longer verified with that blue thingy. So now everyone with a blue check pays a fee for it. Hmm okay. if anyone can buy it then what’s the point.’

Actor-politician Khushbu Sundar wrote, ‘My account says subscription will end on 17th March 2024, yet it says canceled. I have paid for a year. Why does it stand canceled @TwitterBlue???’
Many other stars, including Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Amitabh Bachchan, Alia Bhatt, and Halle Berry have also lost their verified blue ticks from Twitter.
