Veteran actor Waheeda Rehman, who will be conferred with the Dadasaheb Phalke Lifetime Achievement Award, is happy that people ultimately recognised her work.
Speaking with India Today, Waheeda said that she's happy and feels you get your regards when you work with dedication and honesty.
She dedicated the award to her colleagues and the film industry. 'Whoever I am today is because of them,' she said.
'I am so happy that people ultimately recognised my work. I feel one should keep working with dedication and honesty, then you do get your regards,' she told India Today.
'I want to dedicate this award to all my colleagues, my film industry, everybody from every department. This is for them. In movies, you don’t do it alone. Even the greatest director needs his cast to convey his ideas,' she added.
Waheeda Rehman is known for her work in films like Pyaasa, Kaagaz ke Phool, Chaudhavi Ka Chand, Saheb Biwi Aur Ghulam, Guide and Khamoshi among others.
The news was announced by Information and Broadcasting minister Anurag Thakur, who took to X (formerly Twitter), and praised Waheeda Rehman’s contributions to cinema. He also said that the actor has exemplified ‘dedication, commitment and the strength of a Bharatiya Nari’.
