Director Atlee, whose latest directorial ‘Jawan’ has triggered a tsunami at the box office, is open to the idea of taking the action thriller to the Oscars. In a recent interview, Atlee said that he would talk to Shah Rukh Khan about submitting the movie for Oscars nominations.
Atlee said, ‘Of course, even Jawan should go, if everything falls in place. I think every effort, everybody, every director, every technician who is working in cinema, their eyes are on the Golden Globes, Oscars, National Awards, every award. So, definitely, yeah, I would love to take Jawan to the Oscars. Let’s see. I think Khan sir will watch and read this interview. I will also ask him over a call ‘Sir, should we take this film to the Oscars?’
Atlee’s statement comes weeks after director Anil Sharma said he wants to submit ‘Gadar 2’ for Oscar consideration. The attention to the Oscars has risen after SS Rajamouli took his film, ‘RRR’, to the Academy Awards. The film, which starred Ram Charan and Jr NTR, won the Best Original Song for ‘Naatu Naatu’. It also won awards at Golden Globe Awards and Critics Choice Awards.
‘Jawan’ has earned Rs 858 crores worldwide and it has minted Rs 430 crores in India.
