Actor Deepika Padukone has joined footballer David Beckham, actor Cate Blanchett, and singer Dua Lipa as one of the presenters at the upcoming BAFTA Awards which will be held on February 19.
Variety reports the trio will present individual awards, yet their assigned categories remain undisclosed. Past presenters include Hugh Grant, Lily Collins, Adjoa Andoh, Emma Corrin, Gillian Anderson, Himesh Patel, and Idris Elba.
The star-studded event promises impressive performances, including a special cover song by Hannah Waddingham and Sophie Ellis-Bextor singing her hit ‘Murder on The Dancefloor.’ Former Rising Star Award winners Emma Mackey and Jack O’Connell will present the award.
Deepika Padukone, who previously presented at the 2023 Oscars, reflects the rising global prominence of Indian stars, amplified by SS Rajamouli's ‘RRR’ winning an Oscar for ‘Naatu Naatu’ in 2023.
Historical drama ‘Oppenheimer’ leads with 13 BAFTA nominations, followed by Gothic comedy ‘Poor Things’ and Martin Scorsese’s ‘Killers of the Flower Moon’, both with nine nods each. The awards ceremony is set for February 19 at London’s Royal Festive Hall.
Deepika Padukone is a highly acclaimed Indian actress and producer. She made her acting debut in the 2006 Kannada film ‘Aishwarya’ and later gained widespread recognition with her Bollywood debut in ‘Om Shanti Om’ (2007), opposite Shah Rukh Khan, for which she won the Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut.
