Actor Tabu has been chosen for a recurring role in the Max prequel series ‘Dune: Prophecy’, where she will reportedly portray Sister Francesca.
According to Variety, Tabu’s character has been described as ‘strong, intelligent, and alluring.’ Sister Francesca has a significant impact. She was once a great love of the Emperor, and her return to the palace disrupts the capital's power balance.
Originally commissioned in 2019 as ‘Dune: The Sisterhood’, the show's release date is yet to be announced.
The official logline read, as per the report, ‘Set within the expansive universe of Dune, created by acclaimed author Frank Herbert, and 10,000 years before the ascension of Paul Atreides, Dune: Prophecy follows two Harkonnen sisters as they combat forces that threaten the future of humankind, and establish the fabled sect that will become known as the Bene Gesserit.’
The series is inspired by the novel ‘Sisterhood of Dune’ written by Brian Herbert and Kevin J Anderson.
Joining the cast of Dune: Prophecy are Emily Watson, Olivia Williams, Johdi May, Travis Fimmel, Sarah-Sofie Boussnina, Mark Strong, Chloe Lea, Josh Heuston, Jade Anouka, Edward Davis, Faoileann Cunningham, Aoife Hinds, Shalom Brune-Franklin, and Chris Mason.
Anna Foerster has taken on the role of executive producer and directed several episodes, including the first. Alison Schapker is the showrunner and executive producer. Diane Ademu-John co-developed the series and also serves as an executive producer.
Tabu was last seen in ‘Crew’. The Rajesh A Krishnan directorial also starred Kareena Kapoor, Kriti Sanon, Diljit Dosanjh, Kapil Sharma, Saswata Chatterjee, Rajesh Sharma and Kulbhushan Kharbanda.
She will be next seen in ‘Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha’ with Ajay Devgn. The romantic drama, directed by Neeraj Pandey, will hit cinemas on July 5. The film also features Jimmy Shergill, Saiee Manjrekar and Shantanu Maheshwari.
