Singer Adele is currently on cloud nine as she is inching closer to bagging the EGOT status now. The prestigious status is given to someone who has won an Emmy, a Grammy, an Oscar and a Tony Award. The singer took to Instagram and shared a picture in which she is seen proudly posing with the Emmy statuette, following the 2022 Creative Arts Emmy Awards. ‘Adele: One Night Only’ was one of the event’s top winners with 5 major wins.
Expressing her happiness, she wrote, ‘Bloody hell I’m pleased as punch! Thank you @mrbenwinston for dropping this round to me this afternoon!! Trust me to officially have an EGO.’ Adele won the Emmy for outstanding variety special (pre-recorded) at the Creative Arts Emmys ceremony. Her CBS television special was the winner in four other categories.
Former US President Barack Obama also won his first Emmy award for the narration of Netflix’s docuseries, ‘Our Great National Parks’ on Saturday. The five-part series, which explores national parks and nature’s beauty in 5 continents across the globe, has been produced by the The Obamas’ production company, Higher Ground.
Obama is now the second US President to win an Emmy, after former POTUS Dwight Eisenhower’s honorary Emmy win in 1956.
South Korean drama ‘Squid Game’ also emerged as one of the big winners at the Creative Arts Emmys. Lee Yoo-mi is the first Korean actress to win the award in the category- outstanding guest actress in a drama series. Besides this, Squid Game also won an award for the outstanding production design for a narrative contemporary program, outstanding special visual effects and outstanding stunt performance.
Late actor Chadwick Boseman was awarded Outstanding Character Voice-Over Performance for his role in Marvel’s What If…? Series.
