Amber Heard resumed her testimony in Depp's $50 million defamation trial against her on Monday (May 16), post a 10-day break. She spoke extensively about the final months of her marriage with the 'Pirates of the Caribbean' actor, how she tried to cover her scars with makeup and how the ongoing trial was affecting her mental health.
During the testimony, Heard claimed that she begged her ex-husband to stop calling her 'a liar' and to stop the smear campaign against her. “I was begging Johnny to not make me prove... to sit on this stand and to sit in front of you all to prove and talk about [the abuse],” she said. “I was trying to get him to not call me a liar as everything I have said to date and everything I have said now is the truth,” she added.
Heard also claimed that she didn't file criminal charges or a police report against Depp as she wanted to protect him and not bring out the case in the public eye. "I didn't want this to hurt Johnny," she said.

The 'Aquaman' actor says the public feud with Depp has been a 'torture' to her as she receives numerous accusations from his supporters saying she's lying about the abuse. "I want to move on with my life. I have a baby. I want to move on. I want to move on. I want Johnny to move on too, I want him to leave me alone," she said.
Depp sued his ex-wife over an op-ed she wrote for The Washington Post, in which she claimed that she was a domestic abuse survivor. Though she didn't name the 'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory' actor in her article, Depp sued her. During her testimony, Heard explained her intention behind publishing the 2018 op-ed and said, "It's not about Johnny. The only one who thought it was about Johnny is Johnny. It's about me and what happened to me after Johnny, it is about me after I escaped my marriage, it is about me and my life and what I endured once I got a TRO (temporary restraining order) and moved on with my life. It was about what happened to me after. The only one who made it about him, ironically, is Johnny."
Amber Heard and Johnny Depp had met on the sets of 'The Rum Diary' in 2009 and they started dating a year later. They tied the knot in 2015. A year later, Heard filed for divorce alleging that Depp had physically abused her while under the influence of drugs or alcohol during their marriage. Their divorce was finalized in 2017.
