Andrew Garfield and Dr. Kate Tomas’ love spell has officially come to an end.
The Amazing Spider-Man actor and self-proclaimed "professional witch" and philosopher have called it quits after a brief romance. Kate confirmed the breakup on October 11.
When asked by an Instagram follower, "Are you still dating Andrew Garfield? If so, tell him I’m a fan," Kate replied, "We broke up months ago, but I’m sure he’ll be happy to know he’s loved."
The Social Network star and his ex, who holds a doctoral degree in Theology from Oxford and is an expert in Mysticism and Catholic women mystics, were last seen together publicly in July at the 2024 Wimbledon Tennis Championships in England.
The couple first stepped out together in late March, spotted holding hands during a double date with Phoebe Bridgers and Bo Burnham in Malibu, California. Just days earlier, the two had been seen grocery shopping in Los Angeles.
Andrew, 41, has not publicly addressed their breakup and never commented on the relationship.
Since their romance went public, Dr. Kate Tomas has faced growing scrutiny. When an Instagram user asked, "Will you ever stop talking about Andrew?" on the same post where she confirmed their breakup, Kate shot back, "Sweetheart, the only people who ever talk about or center a man in my life, work, or social media are women like you."
In July, Kate spoke out against the criticism in an interview with The Sunday Times. “It’s frustrating that no matter how accomplished or impactful a woman is, people are more interested in her relationship with a man. I don’t want to sit under anybody’s shadow,” she said.
She also criticized the media for choosing unflattering photos, saying, "The most depressing part is the misogynistic focus on a woman’s looks or career."
Relying on her own spiritual practices, Kate shared that she uses techniques like cord-cutting spells and energy protection to reclaim her power. "The most powerful form of psychic protection is knowing who you are and being OK with that,” she added.
