American actor Lisa Bonet, also known as Lilakoi Moon, has officially filed for divorce from Jason Momoa after an 18-year-long relationship. The couple had publicly announced their separation nearly two years ago.
Bonet recently submitted the required legal documents for the dissolution of her marriage to Momoa in Los Angeles County Court. The divorce is based on irreconcilable differences, with neither party seeking financial support from the other. They have mutually agreed on the division of their assets.
Regarding their 16-year-old daughter and 15-year-old son, the couple has opted for joint custody, demonstrating their dedication to shared parenting responsibilities, as reported by People.
The divorce papers indicate the separation date as October 2020, which predates their public announcement by over a year. A substantial waiting period of at least six months is expected before a formal divorce decree can be issued by a judge.
When announcing their split two years ago, Bonet and Momoa had said, ‘We have all felt the squeeze and changes of these transformational times… A revolution is unfolding and our family is no exception… feeling and growing from the seismic shifts occurring.’
‘We share our Family news that we are parting ways in marriage. The love between us carries on, evolving in ways it wishes to be known and lived. We free each other to be who we are learning to become,’ they added.
‘Our devotion is unwavering to this sacred life of our children. Teaching our children what’s possible. Living the Prayer. May Love Prevail,’ their statement further said.
Jason Momoa married Lisa Bonet, known for ‘The Cosby Show’, its spinoff ‘A Different World’, and the ‘Enemy of the State’, in 2017. The duo had reportedly started dating in 2005.
Momoa was last seen in the action film ‘Aquaman 2’ which received positive responses from the audience.
