The BAFTA TV awards 2023 were held at the Royal Festival Hall in London on Sunday. The event was hosted by comedians Rob Beckett and Romesh Ranganathan. Among those who bagged the top prizes at the award show included Kate Winslet, Sharon Horgan, and Ben Whishaw.

Kate Winslet won the best leading actress award for her role in ‘I Am Ruth’, which also starred her real-life daughter Mia Threapleton. While accepting the award, Kate Winslet said, ‘We did this together kiddo. There were days when it was agony for [Threapleton] to dig as deeply as she did and it took my breath away.’

Sharon Horgan accepted the award for best drama on behalf of Apple TV+ series ‘Bad Sisters’ and thanked the writers. Meanwhile, Anne-Marie Duff won the prize for best supporting actress for the show.

Ben Whishaw won the best leading actor award for the show ‘This Is Going to Hurt’, beating out Cillian Murphy and Gary Oldman.

In the international category, Netflix’s ‘Dahmer’ won for best series.

Two special awards were also handed out during the event, one to historian David Olusoga, who has appeared in the Netflix docu-series ‘Harry & Meghan’ among other programs, and comedian Meera Syal was honored with a BAFTA fellowship.
