Billie Eilish took to Instagram on April 8 to announce her highly anticipated new album, ‘Hit Me Hard and Soft’.

For her third album, the ‘Bad Guy’ singer is changing up the release strategy. Instead of releasing singles before the album's official debut, she has decided to unveil the complete album on May 17, 2024.

Sharing the news, she wrote, ‘So crazy to be writing this right now i’m nervyyyyy & exciteddd’.

She further confirmed the change in her music release format and wrote, ‘Not doing singles i wanna give it to you all at once… finneas and i truly could not be more proud of this album and we absolutely can’t wait for you to hear it. love you love you love you.;

The album cover for the upcoming record of the musical superstar shows her underwater, barefoot. The key visual presents a surreal scene, with a wooden door, suggesting she has fallen directly from it into the water.

Billie Eilish and her musical collaborator (and brother), Finneas, have been actively promoting their hit song ‘What Was I Made For?’ from the Barbie movie as part of a long awards campaign over the past few months. Apart from this, the duo hasn't released a full album since ‘Happily Ever After’ in July 2021.

Eilish has been dropping hints about working on a new album since the second half of 2023. Recently, fans spotted several billboard pop-ups in New York and Los Angeles, possibly hinting at her upcoming album.

While these visuals didn't directly mention Billie Eilish's name, they included her 'blohsh' symbol and snippets of lyrics such as ‘She's the headlight I'm the deer,’ ‘Did I cross the line?’ and ‘I try to live in black and white.’

This promotional strategy is similar to the one used for Eilish's second full album, ‘Happily Ever After.’
