Blake Lively apologised to fans following Kate Middleton's shocking revelation that she is battling cancer. The 'Gossip Girl' alumn took to her Instagram Stories and mentioned that she's 'mortified' after learning the news, acknowledging that she was one of the many people online who made fun of the Princess of Wales’ Photoshop controversy. For the uninitiated, Blake had jumped on the 'Kate Gate,' taking a dig at the latter's Mother's Day photo, which the royal said she edited.

Blake Lively's apology

Taking to her Instagram stories, Blake wrote, “I’m sure no one cares today, but I feel like I have to acknowledge this. I made a silly post around the ‘Photoshop fails’ frenzy, and oh man, that post has me mortified today. I’m sorry. Sending love and well wishes to all, always."

Kate Middleton's shocking revelation

On Friday, Kate announced she had been diagnosed with cancer and was undergoing chemotherapy treatment.

In her emotional video, Princess Kate thanked well-wishers for their "wonderful messages of support" amid her recovery, which she called "an incredibly tough couple of months for our entire family."

"In January, I underwent major abdominal surgery in London, and at the time, it was thought that my condition was non-cancerous," she said. "The surgery was successful. However, tests after the operation found cancer had been present. My medical team therefore advised that I should undergo a course of preventative chemotherapy, and I am now in the early stages of that treatment."

Notably, the details of her cancer treatment have not been disclosed yet; however, Kensington Palace said it is confident the princess will make a full recovery.
