Britney Spears' ex-husband Jason Alexander was arrested on Thursday after he attempted to crash her wedding to actor Sam Asghari. He arrived at the venue hours prior to the ceremony and confronted the security.

The entire incident was reportedly live streamed on his Instagram, in which he claimed that Britney had invited him.

'She's my first wife, my only wife. I'm her first husband. I'm here to crash the wedding,' he was quoted as saying.

Jason and Britney were childhood friends who got married at a Las Vegas chapel in 2004. Their marriage had lasted only for 55 hours.

In a statement to USA TODAY, Britney Spears' attorney Mathew Rosengart said that Jason had been held for his 'disgusting criminal misconduct.' He thanked the Ventura County Sheriff’s department for their prompt action and said that he'll ensure Jason is 'prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.'

According to People magazine report, Britney Spears got married to Sam Asghari in Los Angeles, California, US, on Thursday night. The ceremony was attended by 60 guests including Madonna, Paris Hilton, Drew Barrymore and Donatella Versace.

Sources said that the singer opted for a Versace gown for the wedding and Elvis Presley's 'Can't Help Falling in Love' was played as she walked down the aisle.
