Cardi B expressed disappointment and anxiety over the current U.S. election trends, as early results leaned in favour of former President Donald Trump. Cardi, who has openly endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris for the presidency, tweeted on election night, “We need a Hail Mary,” as the race intensified.
According to Associated Press results at 9:34 a.m. IST, Trump had secured 230 electoral votes while Harris trailed with 179. Each candidate picked up wins in their respective party strongholds, but critical battleground states, Pennsylvania, Georgia, Michigan, Arizona, Wisconsin, North Carolina, and Nevada, remained too close to call, keeping the nation on edge.
Amid election anxieties, Cardi also found herself in a public exchange with Tesla CEO Elon Musk, who criticized her support for Harris. Musk labelled Cardi as a “puppet,” claiming she lacked authenticity.

He remarked, “Another puppet who can’t even talk without being fed the words. The Kamala campaign has no authenticity or true empathy.”
Cardi fired back, defending her background and stance: “I'm not a puppet, Elon. I'm the daughter of two immigrant parents who worked tirelessly to provide for me. I grew up on welfare, section 8 housing, and know the struggles of a system set against people like me.” She further added, “But you wouldn’t understand the American struggle. P.S. Fix my algorithm.”
At a recent rally appearance, Cardi drew parallels between her journey and Harris's, championing women’s resilience in the face of adversity. “Just like Kamala, I’ve been the underdog, underestimated and dismissed. Women have to work ten times harder just to be questioned for our success. I can’t stand a bully, but like Kamala, I will always stand up to one.”
