In a surprising turn of events during a Melbourne concert, Chris Martin, the charismatic frontman of Coldplay, took an unexpected dive into a hole on stage!

The incident unfolded during the band's fourth and final show at Marvel Stadium, part of their Music of the Spheres tour.

While engaging with fans, Martin accidentally walked backward into a large opening on the thrust stage. Videos from concertgoers show him enthusiastically reading and pointing at signs just moments before the fall. Luckily, a crew member was there to catch him, cushioning his landing.

The audience gasped in shock, and Martin quickly bounced back, humorously noting, ‘That’s uh, not planned. Thank you for catching me, so much. Thank you guys, holy shit!’

He reassured everyone that he was okay, even sharing his jitters with the crowd before continuing the show.

This incident follows a similar mishap involving Olivia Rodrigo, who fell through a stage hole during her concert in Melbourne just three weeks earlier. While performing at the Rod Laver Arena, she stumbled into an opening while running to greet fans. In true pop star fashion, Rodrigo laughed it off, saying, ‘Oh my God, that was fun! I’m OK. Woah. Sometimes there’s just a hole in the stage. That’s all right. OK. Where was I?’

Coldplay is gearing up to hit the road again, with their next shows scheduled in Sydney from Wednesday to Sunday at Accor Stadium. With two high-profile falls in such a short time, fans will undoubtedly be watching their favourite artists’ steps a little more closely!
