Chris Rock will be the first comedian to air a live-streaming special on Netflix. In a statement, Robbie Praw, the company’s vice president of stand-up and comedy formats said that Chris is one of the most iconic and important comedic voices of our generation. He said they are thrilled the entire world will be able to experience a live Chris Rock comedy event and be a part of Netflix history. Robbie said this will be an unforgettable moment and they’re honored that Chris is carrying this torch.
Chris Rock’s live Netflix comedy special is set to stream in early 2023. He previously collaborated with Netflix on the comedy special ‘Chris Rock: Tamborine,’ in February 2018. This is his second Netflix stand-up special.
He also appeared at ‘Netflix Is a Joke’ comedy festival earlier this year, alongside Dave Chappelle. It featured over 330 comedians who performed 295 shows across more than 35 venues in Los Angeles, including the first-ever stand-up show at Dodger Stadium.
Chris Rock is currently on his Ego Death world tour, with shows planned through November & December in California, Texas, and Washington. He will co-headline a number of those shows with his friend and fellow comic Dave Chappelle.
