2024 has been a year of celebrity breakups but Dakota Johnson and Chris Martin's split was definitely not on our bingo card. After putting the ring on it, it was anticipated that the Coldplay frontman would soon be getting married to his actor girlfriend. However, a recent report by Daily Mail has suggested that Hollywood's longtime couple has decided to part ways.

Dakota Johnson and Chris Martin call it quits!

Dakota and Chris, who began dating in 2017 and got engaged several years ago, have called off their engagement and decided to part ways. A source, as reported by Daily Mail, revealed that the former lovebirds have 'now accepted that the relationship is over - and it's best to move on'. “Chris and Dakota have tried desperately hard over the past few months to make their relationship work,” the source told the outlet. “They’ll always have love for each other but they’ve both come to the conclusion the relationship cannot be sustained long-term. They’re both busy people, Chris has been in Europe with Coldplay and they both have personal priorities, passions, and work commitments which don’t naturally intertwine with each other. They wanted it to work but it just hasn’t, and they’ve now accepted it is best to move on.”

The magazine also mentioned that the rumours of the split first began doing rounds after Dakota was spotted without her emerald green last week when she was walking her dog outside her residence. The Fifty Shades of Grey star and Martin secretly split up briefly in June but soon reconciled.
