Marvel Studios unveiled the first teaser for ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ during the 2024 Super Bowl on Sunday night.

The teaser of the superhero flick serves as an introduction to Deadpool's integration into the broader MCU and briefly showcases Wolverine in his iconic costume.

About the teaser

The teaser features the Time Variance Authority, last seen in ‘Loki’ Season 2, kidnapping Deadpool during his birthday celebration and introducing him to the MCU. Dubbing himself ‘Marvel Jesus,’ Deadpool vows to inject his R-rated humuor and fourth-wall-breaking antics into Disney's pristine brand.

‘Your little Cinematic Universe is about to change forever. I’m the Messiah. I am Marvel Jesus,’ he announces.

While Wolverine's face remains unseen, his presence is hinted at from behind, and Deadpool confronts him towards the trailer's end, although only his shadow is revealed.

The movie also stars Emma Corrin, Morena Baccarin, Rob Delaney, Leslie Uggams, Karan Soni and Matthew Macfadyen.

‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ is set to premiere in theatres on July 26th.

About ‘Deadpool 3’ delay

‘Deadpool 3’ encountered a four-month production delay due to the SAG-AFTRA strike, pushing its release from May 3 to July 26.

The original ‘Deadpool’ depicted the anti-hero seeking vengeance against Ajax (Ed Skrein), the man responsible for his mutation and disfigurement. Its sequel focused on Deadpool assembling the X-Force team to combat the time-traveling soldier Cable (Josh Brolin).

Upon its release in 2018, ‘Deadpool 2’ shattered records, opening with $18.6 million at the North American box office. Similarly, ‘Deadpool,’ two years earlier, enjoyed substantial success, debuting domestically with $132.4 million, setting a record for an R-rated film.

Director on ‘Deadpool 3’

In an essay for Esquire, ‘Deadpool 3’ director Shawn Levy disclosed that he incorporated an homage to the ‘Star Wars’ franchise in the upcoming film. He described a pivotal scene as the ‘Jedi moment,’ drawing inspiration from the iconic Vader and Luke scene. Levy meticulously analyzed its cinematography, framing, and pacing to recreate a similar impact in his ‘Deadpool’ movie. He emphasized the personal empowerment he feels collaborating with Marvel on the project, affirming that the film aligns with his and Ryan Reynolds' initial vision.
