Jennifer Lopez recently ended her two-year-long marriage with Ben Affleck. Jenny on the Block star filed for divorce from Affleck on August 20 in the Los Angeles County Superior Court. The couple has yet to release a statement, but Ben was recently spotted in LA sans his wedding band. While the internet attempts to dissect the possible reason behind the end of what once appeared straight out of a fairytale romance, JLo's ex-fiance Alex Rodriguez has shared a cryptic note on Instagram, seemingly taking a dig at her failed marriage.
A quote attributed to the retired MLB player via The Con. sept's Instagram page reads, “You either go one way or the other, you might as well be the one deciding the direction.” Alex later shared the image on his Instagram story shortly after news of Jennifer's divorce filing broke.
Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez first met in 2005 at a Yankee game, although they were married to other people at the time. They rekindled their friendship in 2017 after a coincidental meeting. They immediately hit it off and decided to date. Alex proposed to Jennifer with a huge emerald-cut diamond ring in 2019. They officially ended their engagement in April 2021. Their joint statement read: “We will continue to work together and support each other on our shared businesses and projects. We wish the best for each other and one another’s children. Out of respect for them, the only other comment we have to say is thank you to everyone who has sent kind words and support.”
Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck rekindled their romance in 2021, almost two decades after they broke off their engagement. “Love is beautiful. Love is kind. And it turns out love is patient. Twenty years patient,” Lopez said in 2022 after announcing the Las Vegas wedding. The couple began having trouble in their paradise at the beginning of this year, with Ben moving out of their LA mansion. Since then, JLo and Ben have been spotted without their wedding rings on many occasions. JLo filed for divorce on August 20, 2024, which also marked her and Ben's second wedding anniversary.
