'Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness' has opened to a massive box office collection over the weekend. The film, which was released on May 6, minted ₹97 crore on Day 3 in India.
The blockbuster, which is a sequel to the 2016 film 'Doctor Strange', has managed to garner ₹30 crore on its first day and ₹26 crore on its second day.
The Benedict Cumberbatch film is doing phenomenal business in India as it has landed in the fifth position in the international circuit after Korea, UK, Mexico, and Brazil.
'Doctor Strange 2' has also smashed its debut box office records, which had opened at ₹13.90 crores in November 2016.
'Variety’ stated that 'Doctor Strange 2' has minted $27 million internationally on its opening day overseas. The film had sold $65 million worth of tickets in domestic pre-sales alone.
For the unversed, the Sam Raimi directed 'Doctor Strange 2' follows the story of Doctor Stephen Strange, who lands in the multiverse where he faces multiple alternate versions of himself. The film also stars Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff aka Scarlet Witch, Benedict Wong as Wong, and Xochitl Gomez as America Chavez.
