Doja Cat has deactivated her account on Instagram citing online toxicity and abuse. The ‘Kiss me more’ singer announced her Instagram exit on Saturday in a post explaining the reason behind her move.
The 28-year-old singer posted a picture of a crab claw holding a cigarette in her exit announcement post. In the caption, she wrote, “hey, I’m gonna deactivate because I’m not really feeling this anymore. You guys take care of yourselves.” The singer then edited the caption and wrote, “I like coming here to find inspo and see people being creative but I just feel this is getting to be too much.” “The way I’m spoken to on here and treated makes me have f****d up thoughts. Please watch how you talk to and about people on the internet. Bye,” she added.
Doja’s Instagram exit comes amid speculations of the singer splitting up with her boyfriend J Cyrus. The couple’s relationship has faced scrutiny from her fans as many alleged that her rapper boyfriend had emotionally abused and manipulated some of his female Twitch followers. Doja Cat defended her boyfriend, slamming her own fans. The Grammy award winner singer also called the fan pages dedicated to her ‘creepy’ for using her real name on their social media pages.
Following the tussle with her fanbase, the singer then went on to lose 2,50,000 Instagram followers. Some of the loyal fan pages dedicated to the singer instantly shut their accounts after her outburst.
Doja’s Instagram exit saw a mixed reaction from the fans on social media. While many expressed concerns for the singer, there were other comments citing the singer’s behaviour towards her fans. They called it ‘Karma’ and pointed out her past comments on her fans.
