Twitter owner Elon Musk was recently invited to the Dave Chappelle Show in San Francisco on Sunday. The billionaire, who donned a t-shirt that said ‘I love Twitter’, was booed by the audience as soon as he got on the stage. The comedian tried to deal with the situation and joked that some of the people who were booing could be Twitter employees, whom Musk fired in the latest round of layoffs.
Elon Musk said, ‘tough road ahead sounds like.’ Dave joked, ‘Sounds like some of those people you fired. All you people booing, and I'm just pointing out the obvious — are in terrible seats. All coming from way up there, them last-minute non planning.’
Elon then asked Dave, ‘what should I say?’ and he said, ‘Don't say nothing. It will only spoil the moment. Do you hear that sound Elon? That's the sound of pending civil unrest.’
A video from the show is going viral on social media and many are calling out Dave for humiliating the audience.
Elon Musk has been facing massive backlash ever since he took over Twitter. On his second day, he laid off the top executives, including Twitter CEO Parag Agrawal, Vijay Gadde, and Nel Segal. A couple of days later, Musk fired close to 75 percent of its workforce. He also restored several blocked accounts, including that of former US President Donald Trump.
