Gwyneth Paltrow, actor turned Goop founder, will be celebrating her 50th birthday on September 27. She is popular for her role in movies like ‘Contagion’, ‘Great Expectations’, ‘Thanks for Sharing’, and the ‘Iron Man’ series. In her career spanning over two decades, the actor has earned many awards including an Oscar, Golden Globe and an Emmy. 

Besides being an actor and businesswoman, Gwyneth is also a model and singer. Married to Coldplay star Chris Martin, she is a mother to two kids – Apple and Moses.

On Gwyneth Paltrow’s 50th Birthday, let’s take a look at some of the major facts related to the diva.Born in

California in 1972, Gwyneth is the daughter of producer-director Bruce Paltrow and Emmy award winning actor Blythe Danner.

Paltrow made her acting debut in 1989 with a film, titled ‘High’, which was directed by her father. She was just 17 years old then. She made her professional stage debut at the ‘Williamstown Theater Festival’ in 1990. A year later, she starred in two films, a musical romance film called ‘Shout,’ and an adventure film ‘Hook’, directed by Steven Spielberg.

Gwyneth gained wide recognition in 1995 after she starred in the thriller ‘Se7en’ opposite Brad Pitt, whom she later dated. Her performance in the film earned her a nomination for the Saturn Award for Best Supporting Actress. Her acting career was at its peak in 1998 as she starred in five high-profile films- ‘Great Expectations’, ‘Sliding Doors’, ‘Hush’, ‘A Perfect Murder’, and ‘Shakespeare in Love’. 

Her performance in ‘Shakespeare in Love’ earned her various awards, including the Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role, the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in a Motion Picture – Comedy or Musical, and an Academy Award for Best Actress.

In 2000, Paltrow showed her singing skills as she performed a cover song for Smokey Robinson’s song ‘Cruisin,’ and Kim Carnes’s ‘Bette Davis Eyes.’

The 2008 film ‘Iron Man’ is her first Marvel movie. 

A year later, Gwyneth narrated a children’s audio book series called ‘The Brown Bear and Friends’ by Bill Martin Jr. She bagged a Grammy Award nomination for ‘Best Spoken World Album for Children.’

According to a Hindustan Times report, Gwyneth’s Parisian apartment is a home she built from almost scratch. She chose a plot in California’s Montecito in 2015. The two most special things in the apartment are the kitchen which she calls ‘the heart of the home’ and her personal spa which has a steam and a sauna room, a cold plunge pool and a hot bathing area. According to the reports, it is inspired by a Parisian spa as it has off-white tiles to add a sense of calm to the room.  

The actor launched her lifestyle company ‘Goop’ in 2008. Her brand is worth $250 million as reported by CEO Magazine  in May 2021.

She has also published numerous cookbooks such as ‘My Father’s Daughter: Delicious, Easy Recipes Celebrating Family and Togetherness’ which was published in 2011.
