Music icon Lady Gaga finally addressed the long-standing rumours from her early career that claimed she was a man.

In the second episode of ‘What’s Next? The Future With Bill Gates’, Gaga recalled being bombarded with those questions during global tours and media appearances, choosing not to engage with the speculation.

Gaga explained how the rumours didn’t affect her, stating she never felt like a victim of them.

‘The reason I didn’t answer the question was because I didn’t feel like a victim with that lie,’ she said.

The singer added that addressing the rumours wasn’t in the best interest of others, particularly for young people who might be struggling with similar accusations.

Gaga said, ‘I’ve been in situations where fixing a rumour was not in the best interest of the well being of other people. In that case, I tried to be thought provoking and disruptive in another way. I tried to use the misinformation to create another disruptive point.’

She added that she’s ‘been used to lies being printed about me since I was 20 years old. I’m a performer. I think it’s kind of funny.’

The rumour that Lady Gaga was a man first surfaced in the 2010s after a doctored image of the pop star circulated online.
Despite being asked repeatedly, Gaga chose not to dispel the claims, saying she wanted to be ‘thought-provoking and disruptive in another way.’

In a 2011 interview with CNN, she humorously questioned why she should ‘waste time’ on such rumours.

In the latest episode of her Netflix series, Gaga's decision to stay silent has earned praise from fans, who admired her strategy and bravery. She added, ‘That’s more real than the rumours that orbit me for clicks,’ emphasizing the authenticity of her performances.
