Singer Lady Gaga, who performed at the Opening Ceremony of the 2024 Summer Olympics on July 26, was spotted attending events over the weekend. On July 28, a video was posted on French Prime Minister Gabriel Attal’s TikTok with the caption, ‘Thank you Lady Gaga for your stunning performance at the opening ceremony. It was breathtaking.’
However, the video has garnered attention for a different reason. In the clip, filmed at the swimming venue with the pool visible in the background, Gaga is seen hugging Attal in the stands. She then introduces Michael Polansky, the entrepreneur and tech investor she has been rumoured to be dating since around 2020, to Attal as ‘my fiancé.’ Attal and Polansky then shook hands.
Reports of Gaga and Polansky's engagement first emerged in April when she was spotted wearing a diamond ring on her left ring finger.
Gaga and Polansky were first romantically linked in 2020 when they were photographed kissing at a New Year's Eve party in Las Vegas. Shortly after, they went public with their relationship during a PDA-filled weekend in Miami for Super Bowl 2020.
At that time, Gaga posted a photo on Instagram of the couple cuddled up on a yacht, captioning it, 'We had so much fun in Miami.’
A source close to the 13-time Grammy Award winner later told PEOPLE that the couple quarantined together during the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic. The insider revealed they spent time at Gaga's home and grew closer.
In January 2021, when Gaga was invited to perform at President Joe Biden's inauguration in Washington, D.C., Polansky was by her side. At the time, a source told PEOPLE that Gaga was 'happy’ with Polansky and 'grateful’ for his support.
Previously, Gaga was engaged to talent agent Christian Carino (they broke up in 2019) and actor Taylor Kinney (they ended their relationship in 2016).
At the Opening Ceremony on July 26 night, Gaga performed entirely in French. She sang the French-language song 'Mon Truc en Plume’ (‘My Thing With Feathers’) while executing a choreographed routine with backup dancers. and also played the piano during part of the performance.
Though her participation in the Opening Ceremony was rumoured, it was not confirmed until she took the stage on the River Seine in Paris. Her face was concealed by pom-poms until they were removed by the dancers to reveal her identity. According to the Associated Press, the performance was pre-recorded earlier on July 26.
