Singer Lady Gaga has finally addressed the pregnancy rumours. The ‘Joker 2’ star sparked speculation after attending her sister Natali Germanotta’s rehearsal dinner in York, where fans noticed an alleged baby bump.
Rumours quickly spread that Lady Gaga was expecting her first child with Michael Polansky.
Now, the singer has clarified that these rumours are false.
She shared a video on TikTok, borrowing a line from Taylor Swift’s ‘Down Bad’ to shut down the rumours. Gaga wrote, ‘Not pregnant–just down bad cryin' at the gym,’ and lip-synced the lines, ‘I don’t have to find an aesthetic. I am an aesthetic. I mean I’m sure there’s somebody out here right now who’s going into Pinterest trying to type up all these adjectives to describe me.’
The superstar previously expressed her desire to become a mother. In her May 2020 InStyle cover story, Gaga shared her excitement about having children, saying, ‘I look forward to being a mom. Isn't it incredible what we can do? We can hold a human inside and grow it. Then it comes out, and it's our job to keep it alive.’
Gaga first became romantically linked to Michael Polansky, a Harvard graduate and executive at the Institute for Cancer Immunotherapy and The Parker Foundation, in 2020. They confirmed their relationship when they were seen kissing and celebrating New Year's together that year. In February, Gaga made their romance Instagram official by sharing a photo of them cuddling on a boat in Miami.
Before dating Polansky, Gaga was engaged twice: first to Taylor Kinney, with whom she broke off the engagement in July 2016, and then to her talent manager, Christian Carino, before they ended things in February 2019.
Late last month, the Gaga Chromatica Ball concert film premiered on HBO and Max, hinting at the pop superstar’s next musical era with an onscreen message reading ‘LG7 GAGA RETURNS.’ That’s not her only major project: Gaga will star as Harley Quinn in the upcoming musical sequel Joker: Folie à Deux alongside Joaquin Phoenix, set to hit theatres on October 4.
