Oscars 2024 saw Jimmy Kimmel hosting the show for the fourth consecutive time. He kept the audience entertained and took subtle digs (in good humour) at many Hollywood stars. Jimmy took a dig at Greta Gerwig's snub for Best Director and even made a joke about Robert De Niro and his younger girlfriend. Here is what happened!

Jimmy Kimmel takes a dig at Robert De Niro, his girlfriend

Speaking at the Oscars stage, Jimmy said, "Here’s some fun Oscar trivia: 48 years ago, Robert De Niro and Jodie Foster were nominated for Taxi Driver, and they’re both nominated again tonight. 1976 was the year."

For those wondering, Jimmy was talking about the acclaimed Martin Scorsese feature film that starred Robert De Niro and Jodie Foster, and earned Oscar nominations for both stars in Best Actor and Best Supporting Actress categories respectively.

Jimmy further said, "In 1976, Jodie Foster was young enough to be Robert De Niro’s daughter. Now, she’s 20 years too old to be his girlfriend."

In Oscars 2024, Robert is nominated in the Best Supporting Actor category for Killers of the Flower Moon, Jodie Foster is in the race for Best Supporting Actress for Nyad.

How did Robert and Jodie react?

80 year old Robert and 35-year-old GF Tiffany Chen were amused at the joke. Even Jodie gave an affirmnative nod to the joke which left everyone in stiches.

Robery and Tiffany welcomed a daughter last April. Robert and Tiffany's steamy romance started during the shoot of The Intern. They were spotted together on a romantic vacation in the south of France in 2021.
