Johnn Depp has landed himself in another controversy as his co-star in ‘Blow’ accused him of mistreatment and verbal abuse. The actor has now responded to the allegations levelled against him. The matter came to light as an episode of the ‘Powerful Truth Angels’ podcast from January 30 surfaced on social media. In the podcast, Lola Glaudini shared her experience of working with the Hollywood actor and how he verbally abused her.
Speaking to the ‘Powerful Truth Angels’, Lola said that director Ted Demme told her to burst out laughing while Johnny delivered a monologue. Narrating the entire incident she said, “I hear the cue, and I go haha, I do a big laugh or whatever. Johnny Depp, when they say cut, walks over to me, comes up to me, sticks his finger in my face and he goes, ‘Who the f*** do you think you are? Who the f*** do you think you are? Shut the f*** up. I’m out here, and I’m trying to f***ing say my lines and you’re f****** pulling focus. You f****** idiot. Oh, now, oh now it’s not so funny? Now you can shut up? Now you can f****** shut the fuck up? The quiet that you are right now, that’s how you f****** stay.”
The actor said that the incident happened on the first day and it was the first time she had met Depp. She further recalled that Johnny came to her later and said that earlier, he was ‘really in his head’ and staying in his character.
Glaudini further alleged that the director did not apology to her and instead she was treated like a ‘pariah’. “No one wanted to talk to me, because I am the bitch who he railed at.”
Johnny Depp’s representative has given a statement to Deadline and said, “Johnny always prioritises good working relationships with cast and crew and this recounting differs greatly from the recollection of other members on set at the time.”
Netizens have been divided over the allegations and Johnny’s clarification. Many were reminded of his infamous battle against Amber Heard and said that Lola’s case is a testimony of Depp’s berating behaviour towards women. Meanwhile, there were many who defended Depp and called it another smear campaign against the star.
