Days after director Todd Phillips revealed the title of 'Joker' sequel - 'Joker: Folie a Deux,' there are reports that Lady Gaga will be joining the cast. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Gaga is in early talks to portray the role of iconic Harley Quinn. It also said that the forthcoming project is likely to be a musical.
Previously, Gaga worked with Phillips as one of the producers of the 2018 film 'A Star Is Born' She won an Oscar nomination for best actress and an Oscar for Original Song for the aforementioned film.
Phillips confirmed the sequel of his 2019 film 'Joker' in an Instagram post on June 7. His post featured the cover of the script, titled 'Joker: Folie à Deux,' which has been written by Phillips and Scott Silver, and a picture of Joaquin Phoenix going through the script.
The title 'Folie à Deux' is a medical term that means shared psychosis or shared delusional disorder.
The original 'Joker' grossed over $1.07 billion worldwide and emerged as the highest-grossing R-rated movie of all time. The psychological thriller earned 11 Oscar nominations, winning Best Actor for Phoenix and Best Original Score for Hildur Guðnadóttir.
